Labour market softening...

Job ads -10pc below highs

ANZ/Indeed reported the latest job advertisements figures which came in at -10 per cent below the September 2022 high, after falling -2 per cent over the past 3 months.

Although job ads have been very high, this suggests a slowdown in hiring is likely. 


The labour force has also expanded dramatically as the borders have reopened, suggesting that the unemployment rate is heading back above 4 per cent in due course. 


This is an indicator that red hot employment conditions are now easing, with measures of labour force slack already having increased over recent months,
