Temporary visas surge back

Visas rocket back

Temporary visa holder numbers increased to 2,145,978 in the September quarter.

This represents an increase of 502,900 from a year earlier.

Excluding visitor visas, the number have returned to pre-pandemic levels, up +363,000 from a year earlier to 1.97 million.

There will be further increases over the period ahead, with student visas still well below previous heights.

Indeed, student visa holder numbers are still more than ¼ million below where they were three years earlier.

An increase of ½ million will help to solve the labour shortage, but exacerbate the rental shortage.
