Asking prices down from their highs (except here)

Asking price trends

The ABS released figures showing how the mean or average dwelling price in Australia rose $8,500 in the March 2023 quarter to $896,000, taking the total value of the dwelling stock close to $10 trillion.

Overall, though, asking prices are down from their highs.

Except, that is, in Sydney, which is at record highs, albeit only just for units...

...in Brisbane, where supply shortages have seen unit rents up by +23 per cent over the past year.

...and also in Perth, where asking prices have also now finally eclipsed their 2013/14 highs.

Adelaide asking prices are very close to their highs, but in all other capital cities asking prices are down from their respective peaks.
