Falling interest rates drive an acceleration of growth in housing values through Q2 (Cotality)

Home values accelerate

Cotality released their June home value index, with 7 of the 8 capital cities recording price growth.

Only Hobart saw a small decline in the month, but these figures are relatively volatile, and prices increased in the Tasmanian capital over the quarter.

Darwin is going through its mini-boom in prices having seen prices now finally exceed the 2014 peaks, while rental yields are comparatively high in the NT capital.

Cotality noted that listing numbers have declined, adding upwards pressure to prices. 

It also seems that rental vacancy rates have been trending lower again over the past few months.
