Brexit shrug
Rightmove's UK asking price index rose by 1.1 per cent or £3,547 in April to a record high of £313,655.
Over the year to April 2017, the average asking price of new homes brought to market was a moderate 2.2 per cent higher.
Note how in London average asking prices for new homes brought to market appear to have stopped rising at £636,777 in April.
The London average is being pulled down by some sharp declines in the premium sector, with average asking prices down by 10.4 per cent year-on-year in Kensington & Chelsea to £2,011,069.
At the cheaper end of the spectrum, however, asking prices are recording solid gains in London.
