Cost of living increase moderates

Cost of living eases

Some good news as the cost of living increase for employee households moderated from 2.3 per cent in June 2018 to 2 per cent in the September quarter.

Child care expenses were down significantly this quarter, thanks to the subsidy which kicked in for this financial year.

The price of automotive fuel has been one of the key contributors to what little price inflation there has been over the past year.

However, the price of crude oil hit its lowest level since March today, and is now down by 20 per cent in the last month.

Hopefully this will translate into lower fuel prices too, as this has been a pain for households lately.
