One for the doves...

Claims fall

Initial jobless claims in the US fell to just 223,000 this week.

This is the lowest level since March 1973, when claims were 222,000, and comfortably eclipsed market expectations of 243,000.

This was not a one-off result.

The 4-week moving average claims fell to just 234,250, which was also the lowest level since 1973.

As such, the jobs market powers on, so stay tuned for a rate hike.

Just observing from afar, there has been a whole raft of positive data from the Eurozone and elsewhere lately, including from manufacturing and inflation indices.

Not a whole lot to add here except that globally investors should be well positioned for higher rates.
