While commodities markets are looking decidedly shaky - which is being reflected in sliding share prices in the resources index - companies such as Commonwealth Bank (CBA) have continued to thrive.
CBA is a great example of a company which doesn't waste shareholder funds investing in unprofitable rubbish, with funds returned where appropriate to shareholders in the form of very healthy franked dividends.
This has been true to the extent that almost the entire value of an investment has been returned to shareholders in tax-favoured dividends since the onset of the financial crisis.
Share price performance hasn't been too shabby either.
I don't recommend individual stocks to buy.
Always seek professional financial advice before investing.
