Dwelling prices rise in February

Wouldn't place too much emphasis on monthly figures, but CoreLogic-RP Data reports capital city dwelling values +7.6 per cent over the year to February.

Sydney (+9.5 per cent) and Melbourne (+11.1 per cent) lead the way, but with a quarterly gain of +2.0 per cent for an annual increase of +5.5 per cent Brisbane is gradually shaping up as a contender for the best performing market.

A wild quarterly result for volatile Hobart takes annual growth in the Tasmanian capital to +6.2 per cent, but not so much doing elsewhere or in regional Australia in aggregate.
