Sydney Harbour on display
Amazing firework display and presentation last night to celebrate 100 years since the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) entered Sydney Harbour in 1913.
The RAN was granted its title by King George V in 1911 following on from the Federation of Australia being founded in 1901.
It wasn't long before the world was at war in 1914 and the RAN has played a key role in two World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf Wars (including ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan) and countless assist operations around the world.
The firework display was assisted by huge projections onto the Opera House and Harbour Bridge Pylons depicting some of the navy's history as Prince Harry and ships from around the world (as well as some 5,000 other vessels) looked on. Sydney certainly knows how to put on a show.
Sydney's auction clearance rate was reported by APM as a very strong 82.5% yesterday from a smaller pool of auctions.
Going to be a warm and sunny one today - heading to Stadium Australia at Homebush now for the NRL 2013 Grand Final. If there are no further blog posts this week, it's because Easts did not win against Manly. Go Roosters!
